Out In The Sun / Summer In Art Centers

For the second time, Out In The Sun / Summer In Art Centres is providing the public with a large range of contemporary art through a host of exhibitions and artistic events in almost 50 art centres, involving 18 regions and 37 departments. Throughout the whole summer, from 28th May to 30th September, this event will highlight the dynamism and action of institutions which focus on the diffusion of creation in France, their continuous work with artists and their firm commitment to the creation of public awareness.

 100 EXHIBITIONS TO DISCOVER TODAY’S CREATIONS…

Following a successful first year in 2007, this year across the country Out In The Sun / Summer In The Art Centres is offering an increase in the number of events and places involved, with more than 100 exhibitions to discover this summer. More than 200 artists have been invited, a large proportion of which are newcomers. Amongst them: Kader Attia, Gilles Barbier, Orla Barry, Karine Bonneval, Cornelieus Cardew, Malachi Farrell, Richard Fauguet, Camille Henrot, Suzanne Hetzel, Jochen Lempert, Claude Lévêque, Gianni Motti, Laurent Pariente, Martin Parr, Samuel Richardot, Mark Raidpere, Claude Rutault, Samon Takahashi, Stefanos Tsivopoulos…

Out In The Sun / Summer In The Art Centres was initiated by d.c.a, the French Association for the Development of Art Centres which values art centre activities and unites them by means of communal projects. Leading institutions which are true talent spotters in terms of art, envied by many countries, participate throughout the year bringing together contemporary art and new audiences through the discovery of up and coming talent and the production of original work
accompanied by works of reference.

FORTY OR SO CREATIVE OUTINGS AROUND THE COUNTRY…

For the first time Out In The Sun / Summer In The Art Centres is offering a panorama. Combining tourism and creation at the heart of the world of art centres which receive thousands of visitors daily. An original itinerary dreamt up by art centres allows new audiences to discover other places dedicated to contemporary art but also public commissions, innovative architecture and gardens, as well as the addresses of restaurant and hotel owners who with a love of art, instigate new trends. The website ‘Flowers Way’, a tourist service and event partner is the original nationwide search tool for these regional itineraries.

From 28th May the itinerary for the art centres will be available at the following address: www.flowersway.com/pleinsoleil2009
